Table Runners & More

Holiday Dressing Tabletop Tree Skirt or Table Topper (28”)
Whatever your style, from elegant to traditional, make this skirt the perfect accessory for your tree. Choose a main print. two accent pieces and a coordinating light fabric for the contrast that makes the design pop. With clear instructions and great graphics to guide you every step of the way, this deceptively simple tree skirt is easy enough to make for a quick gift. HhQ7459

Hedgehog QuiltsSeaside Inn Runner (18” x 54”)
Bring the colors of sea and sand into your room when you make this lovely runner featuring Atrium fabrics by Joel Dewberry for Westminster Fabrics. The 12” (finished) blocks are a modified log cabin with beautiful light and dark florals in the center.

Hedgehog QuiltsBoho Bed Runner
Bring some Bohemian style into your room with this bright and funky reversible runner using Anna Maria Horner’s Mod Corsage fabrics. You will use a combination of machine and hand quilting to create my modified “Kantha-stitched” technique. Kantha originated in India and used saari fabrics for the outer layers with worn saari fabrics as the padding. All layers were then stitched together with long rows of hand stitching. They were used as blankets or sleeping mats. My modified method uses rows of machine quilting to help stablilize the layers. Between the machine quilting rows, hand stitching is done with Perle Cotton for its sheen and ease in creating long rows of big stitches, approximately 1/4” long. The edges of the Floral fabric are folded and brought around to the front and hand stitched in the same manner, creating a self-bound edge. HhQ7431

Hedgehog QuiltsImperial Runner (21" x 47")
We made this elegant runner with the lovely Oriental fabrics from the "Mari" line by Yuko Hasegawa for RJR. We used the same dramatic piece for the borders and backing of the runner, making it easily reversible. The Dresden Plate blocks appear to be hand appliquéd, giving the runner more dimension. The combination of the paper-piecing for support and the template cut blades keeps the assembly of the blocks consistent in size. Rated as intermediate, this project includes directions for machine mock-hand appliqué, a 1/4 inch seam practice and tips to achieve well-behaved borders. HhQ 7382

Hedgehog QuiltsWelcome Home Runner (20" x 41")
Make the hexagons for this lovely runner using English Paper Piecing (EPP). The hexagons are arranged on the center background and stitched in place. The floral bouquets and words are appliquéd by machine before the runner is assembled. The pattern includes directions for a consistent, scant 1/4" seam practice, my favorite techniques for machine appliqué and my recommendation for a great EPP tutorial. HhQ7401

Garden Brick Path Runner (20" x 38")
Brighten up your table with this runner, starring Lynette Anderson's "Hearts and Flowers" fabric line. Flying geese elements give the impression of brickwork walkways in peaceful tones of red and gray. The flowers in the center are done with simple machine appliqué. HhQ7384

Colors of Autumn Runner  (17" x 37") NEW Update!
Bring the bright colors of autumn inside to dress your table for the season. The main print is accented with colorful flying geese on a rich creamy background. The narrow black borders outline the flying geese border, setting it out from the main print. I love paper-piecing for the speed and accuracy it provides. The foundation pattern is inside, ready to copy but I’ve included the templates for those who prefer the more traditional method.   HhQ7385

Harvest Tabletop Runner (14" x 30½")
You can use this pattern to turn any lovely seasonal fabric into a striking table accent. The simple block border complements the colors of the main fabric and the narrow flat piping (sometimes called a flange) is the perfect frame for the center. Use a different coordinating print for the backing and you'll have a reversible runner. HhQ7370

Star Matrix Runner (23" x 54")
By special request, I downsized the star block (now 9" finished) from my Double Matrix quilt to create this sparkling runner. Just like the quilt, all the blocks are assembled from squares...no special rulers needed. This pattern is rated as intermediate, only because the cutting and assembly charts can look confusing to a beginner. HhQ7376

Tossed Leaves Runner (14” x 36”)
From traditional to contemporary, choose fabrics to suit your style and taste. The blocks are simple, template-free piecing. The half-square triangles and the stem blocks are made larger and then trimmed to size for a perfect fit. The runner is pieced, layered and quilted as a rectangle. The corners are trimmed away as a last step before binding. HhQ7345

Holiday Dressing Tree Skirt (In two sizes, 42” and 54”)   NEW Update!
Whatever your style, from elegant to traditional, make this skirt the perfect accessory for your tree. With clear instructions and great graphics to guide you every step of the way, this deceptively simple tree skirt is easy enough to make for a quick gift. HhQ-7348

Garden Therapy Flags (12” x 18”)
Greet guests to your home or garden with these cheerful flags. This easy project combines piecing, simple fusible applique and free-motion or straight-line quilting in small doses. Choose fun novelty prints and proclaim your love of gardening indoors or out. The full alphabet is included and reversed for tracing, so you can personalize the messages to suit your fancy. The quick turn-and-topstitch finishing method gives the look of custom binding in a fraction of the time.  HhQ7346

Charm Spools Runner (18”x 30”)  Update!
Start with a Charm Square Pack (5” squares), add 1/4 yard of coordinating background fabric, choose 1 yard for the backing and binding and you’ve got the main ingredients for this quicker-than-you-think runner. But please note: Charm Squares are not required! Instructions include cutting specifically for charm squares and a cutting chart for scraps. HhQ7340
